Let me start by saying that I am a remote challenger. By remote, I mean the other side of the country – California. I am fortunate that a friend of mine from Massachusetts (Captain Jess!) had been active with the Fitness Asylum for a few years and had posted about her experience on Facebook. She shared information about the Fall 2019 Body Challenge at a time I was at my heaviest weight ever. I was tired of being tired, achy, and uncomfortable in my own skin. The 12 Week Body Challenge was an opportunity that presented itself at the right time.
The challenge appealed to me because it was something I could do remotely (obviously), it held me accountable (did not want to let the team down!), and engaged me enough on a daily basis that my objectives were reinforced. In addition, it didn’t require that I work out or go to a bootcamp. I would not have had the activation energy to do anything beyond making dietary changes so easing into the nutrition only option was perfect.
By the end of the 12 weeks, I had lost a little over 30 pound and gained several FA friends. I had become more active, more contentious about my food choices (macros!), and joined a local gym to continue my journey. I have regained a sense confidence in myself that had chipped away over the last decade. I have 30 more pounds to lose and will be continuing on with the 2019 Winter Challenge to keep it going. I am so thankful for the Fitness Asylum and the ability to participate in this anywhere!
