Ah Fitness Asylum. What can I say that tons of other people haven’t already said about the amazing place that is Fitness Asylum? All those glowing testimonials? All true! I plan to add to them. Here’s my story.

Kelly Hall, a FA success story who is now a body challenge team captain, likes to say she stalked FA for a long time before joining. Well, I stalked Kelly. I loved seeing her amazing transformation. I had been working on my nutrition and I was seeing success, but I just wasn’t getting over the hump. I kept asking her, “I want to do FA, but I don’t want to do a prescribed diet that isn’t low carb.” She encouraged me to reach out to Bonnie who told me she was sure there was an option in the body challenge that would work for me. She was right. In the beginning, I struggled to get my food in balance, but with the extraordinary help from my AMAZING team captain, Jessica Gatulis, I found a balance and started seeing the results.

It’s not easy, but nobody ever said it would be. To do this and succeed at it, you have to find the balance that works for you and you have to be ready to truly give up the crap – the processed food, the junk, the sweets, all of it. It’s a mental shift, because you can never go back to your old ways. Ever. That’s a hard pill to swallow, but once it’s down, it’s pretty smooth sailing. Fitness Asylum has provided a fantastic support system in the body challenge – breaking us into teams, coaching, Bonnie’s no-nonsense advice and directives, and, most of all, full, 100% acceptance. I was afraid to start bootcamps. I told myself I’d get the food right first then add bootcamps. Baby steps. That’s what I told myself. But at Jessica’s urging I signed up. And you know what? A bunch of people from my team showed up to that first bootcamp of mine and they cheered me on and Dan partnered with me and I knew it was right for me. My first bootcamp was 47 days ago. I’ve done 18 bootcamps in the last 47 days. I went from 2 a week to 3+ a week and plan to work my way up to at least 5x a week. As someone said to me leaving bootcamp one night, “You never regret doing a bootcamp. You always regret skipping one.”

At the finale for the body challenge, I was floored when I was named Sexy Bitch and got a cool prize (Boxing here I come!). I’m not in this for the prizes or accolades. I’m in it to get fit, get strong and find my right sized body and keep it. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Fitness Asylum and the bootcamps and body challenges are going to get me there. I’ve found my health and fitness home.
