Melissa Cutroni | The Fitness Asylum

Melissa Cutroni

I started at the Fitness Asylum a year ago for the Winter Challenge. During that challenge I got on the scale only once because I was extremely disappointed that I had let myself go so badly. I hadn’t weighed that much since I was pregnant with my daughter 23 years ago. My first thought was I need a huge kick in the ass. My next thought was it’s time to start working on me, my kids are both grown up and pretty much out of the house, there’s no better time than now.

My first boot camp was scary because my mind was working overtime with thoughts on are these other people staring at me, am I doing this right, can I actually lift that kettle bell, please don’t let me throw up and I’m never going to be as good as that person or look as good as them . As I look back over the year and how far I’ve actually come, not only am I taking boot camps, but I’ve done advanced boot camp, outdoor boot camp, SGX class, Dirty30 and I’m signed up to start Metcon30 next week . I’ve enjoyed the variety of classes and learning new techniques from each kick ass instructor that I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

This challenge helped me realize that it’s not just about the workouts you need to eat healthy as well. Being on a team and not wanting to let them down helped keep me accountable with logging my food on a continuous basis and weighing in every week. Yes, I’ve reached my goal weight, but I do realize that this is a life style change and I’m doing this for me and me alone.

Thank you Bonnie Lefrak and all of your amazing instructors for giving me the confidence to believe in me again. Thank you to the amazing men and women I’ve met along the way, that I can now call friends. This program works!!!
