When I came across a posting on Facebook one day this past August about the upcoming bikini bootcamp challenge, I was immediately intrigued. I had started my fitness journey a few years ago but was looking to take my physique to the next level. I was at a stand still with my weight loss and needed a change, so this challenge seemed like the perfect thing for me, at the perfect time.
I had heard nothing but awesome things about the Fitness Asylum, so I instantly emailed Bonnie, joined the challenge, attended the kick off meeting and the rest is history! 12 weeks of pure determination and sacrifice for a cause, lead up to a day I will never forget for sure. Where my only goals were to push myself to the limit and step out of my comfort zone, I ended up competing in my first bikini competition and placing first in my class.
Was it hard? Yes. Were there times I just wanted to “throw in the towel” and stuff a cake in my face? Yes. But in the end, was it all worth it?? ABSOLUTELY! I’ve grown as a person physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve learned that through struggle there is also triumph waiting at the other end. No great journey comes without both the up and downs. But, ANYTHING is possible when you put your mind to it and put in 110% effort. Fitness has become such a big part of my life now because it has changed my whole mind set for the better. I am happy. I am strong. I am confident. All traits which I knew I had in me all along, but never had the courage to believe it until now.
After struggling with my weight and negative self image most of my younger years, I finally have come to a point in my life where I don’t look back. I look forward with a positive attitude, ready to take on whatever goals or obstacles come my way. I can finally say I am proud of who I am and comfortable in my own skin. I hope to inspire others, as they have for me. Thanks again to the best coach, Bonnie, and to all my new friends at the Fitness Asylum.
I have finally found a gym where I truly feel like part of the team and feel at home. I can’t thank you all enough for the constant words of encouragement and support. You all are my inspiration! This is just the beginning for me, I can’t wait to see where this journey leads me to next. Never thought I would say this, but I am definitely excited to compete again!
