I have never loved my body. I was a skinny little thing growing up – didn’t reach 100 pounds until college. I was teased a lot in school for being thin. This made me feel very insecure and self-conscious about my body. I was never really comfortable in my own skin, and I always envied the girls with curves and muscles.
When I hit 40 years old, my normally high metabolism came to a screeching halt. It became more of a challenge to stay in shape. I tried different fitness routines, but I knew that my diet was all wrong. I was unmotivated and bored with working out, until I took my first class at the Fitness Asylum. I loved it and was instantly hooked!
When I saw the Bikini Transformation program, I signed up. I wanted to challenge myself, and having a goal in mind was motivating for me. It was not easy, but so rewarding! I felt better in general, had more energy, and finally became comfortable in my own skin. I am proud of the work I put in to look and feel the way I do now, and I want to stay fit forever! I was very new to FA and didn’t know anyone when I started the program. But everyone is so kind and supportive – I have made a few new friends and enjoy being part of the Team.
Thank you, Bonnie Lefrak, for creating The Fitness Asylum and the programs that empower women (and men) to be their best selves and love the skin they’re in! I will be a lifelong member, and am looking forward to competing again in the Spring.
