I started at the Fitness Asylum for the Summer Challenge in June 2011 and was at my heaviest weight ever. I have always struggled with my weight, like a yoyo – it was always up and down. I have tried many “diets” which worked for a little while but were never sustainable. I also did weight watchers and became a lifetime member, but once again was not able to sustain the weight loss. I also was going to the gym once or twice a week, but I wasn’t seeing the results I had expected.

The Total Body Challenge really changed everything for me. The one problem that I had in the past was I never really learned to eat right. I learned how to follow the “diet” I was currently on, but it never helped me change my eating. I learned to count points, but never really learned what those points meant. I could eat anything as long as I counted the points. The Total Body Challenge and Bonnie really helped me to take a close look at exactly what it was that I was eating and how I could make sure that I was eating the right things to be successful. I also had to learn that I wasn’t going to be on a diet, but what I was about to start was a lifestyle change.

With the combination of eating right and the Boot Camp classes, I was able to see a change immediately. My first week, I lost 6 lbs. – something I never was able to do before. After that 1st weigh in, I was hooked. I really liked setting a goal and working hard over the 12 weeks to get there. The Boot Camp workouts are great – I was amazed at how supportive and encouraging everyone was. It really made working out fun, a first for me.
In less than a year, I have lost almost 40 lbs. (over25% of my total weight), I’m down 5 sizes and feel better than I ever have before. When I started last June, I was on medication for high cholesterol; I needed to use an inhaler prior to exercising due to exercise induced asthma and suffered severe migraines. I am no longer on the high cholesterol medication, I have not had to use my inhaler since November and now instead of getting migraines weekly, I now have been only had 2 in the past 4 months.

This program works! I love the workouts, I do still enjoy eating, but I’m eating right and don’t feel like I’m being “cheated” out of anything.
