Cynthia Thiers

My life before joining FA and doing the me Bikini physique challenge. I was not in a good place.

The past 6 years I was struggling with “LIFE”.

In October of 2013 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer and was told she had a year. I spent as much time as much time as I could to be with her and help my dad with the every day chores. She passed away on September 17, 2014. I then went into survival mode. I was now taking care of my dad who just didn’t cope with losing the love of his life.

My dad gave up on life and had no desire to live. He died on oct 3, 2017. Through all that I started gaining weight.
I was a size 4 in 2013 and then started gaining after my mom passed. But it was so gradual I didn’t even notice until a year after my dad. I was at my physical and my doctor made a comment about my weight gain. Still I didn’t really do anything about it.

I was now starting to deal with losing both my parents and on top of that the menopause fairy decided to bless me with all the goodies. Mood swings, weight gain. Big ole stomach and depression. I just about gave up. Told myself to accept being fat.But I was not happy no matter how hard I tried convince myself that it was part of life.

My friend Jo-Ellen Garcia tried to get me to join. In fact she tried 3 times. In November 2018. Then January 2019. But it wasn’t until the end of May 2019 my weight at this time was 187 pounds. When she showed me pictures of her and her sister Cathy Gould I was impressed with how they looked. It was that 3rd time that made me think about it. If they could do it. So can I. I didn’t join right that moment. I did my home work. Got as much information about The Fitness Asylum and on June 26 I signed up for the boot camps and I also signed up for the bikini physique challenge. Nothing like diving right in!!! I was scared. And yes I was intimidated by how beautiful these ladies looked that were there.

But that feeling of intimidation faded and they became my inspiration to keep going and to take charge of getting healthy and fit. I have made so many new friends and the support that all of these beautiful ladies give you is truly amazing. We all supported each other throughout the bikini challenge and I survived my first ever bikini competition and had a blast and lost a total of 60 since joining FA. And a total of 33 pounds since the start of the bikini challenge.

I would like to thank my husband and my daughters as they supported me through all this. This has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait to continue my journey with my New FAmily.
