When I joined the Bikini Challenge in August, my goal was to be able to wear a bikini for my 10 year anniversary vacation in Punta Cana in mid October. The stage show in the beginning of November would just be icing on the cake if I made it, I told myself. I plunged into the challenge fully vested, and committed myself to following the plan faithfully. There were weeks I gained weight. There were weeks I stayed the same. Through it all I had to put my faith in the program that Bonnie has developed, much like I have trusted her with my nutrition and fitness goals for the last 2 years in the “regular” Body Challenge.
As the weeks went on, I joined posing class and watched everyone’s body change in front of my eyes- but I refused to believe it was happening to me. I wore my shorts and tank top and heels, and went through all the motions…As my vacation approached and I tried on bikinis, I became desperate and concerned that it wasn’t happening fast enough, and I would be unable to wear them on my trip. I stayed the course, and the week prior to my vacation (about 7 weeks in), my body really started to change. I went to Punta Cana with a new found confidence and rocked my suits. In a bikini for the first time EVER.
When I came home, I realized stage was no longer a long shot. I could do this. I put my head down and followed the plan, and suddenly, peak week was here, and stage was knocking on my door.
The camaraderie of this group, and the friendships I built on this journey are indescribable. The feeling of pride and joy I had looking around at all my fellow team mates and all we had accomplished was unreal the morning of the show. We were transformed into glamour girls, and headed to the show.
Being on stage itself was so much fun. The lights are shining, the crowd is cheering, and you look the best you have ever looked. You cannot help but beam ear to ear. At this point, the insecurities about your “problem areas” are gone. “Look what I did!!! Look at all my hard work!!” is about the only thing running through your head as you stand there, reveling in the spotlight.
This journey is amazing. Having a good tour guide is the difference between actually learning something along the way of your tour, or just watching the scenery pass by. Bonnie’s guidance and knowing when to push and when to pull back is astonishing, and she reads people so quickly. Her knowledge and expertise makes this program insanely successful. I can’t wait to punch my ticket for the next tour!!!
